However I don't recommend closing the front doors with the windows wound right down, I think it must be a frameless design issue because my Mini was similar.

Agreed - I'm definitely going to get them to take a look at it.

From what you've said about frameless doors, I think my Bertone-built X1/9 must be the exception that proves the rule, as its doors have always closed with a satisfying thunk, whether the windows were up or down. In fact, in this respect it was even better than any of the three SLKs I've had. Unfortunately, as the X1/9 has aged, just getting the windows to go up and down at all has become a challenge. Must be some kind of metaphor...
If it's anything like the typical Fiat, I'm surprised that the there's anything left for the windows to go up and down in

PS I wish that I could have afforded an X1/9, I passed my test whilst they were still being manufactured.

To be honest, it wasn't really my doing. I mentioned to the handover guy that I wanted to get some mats for the car and he accompanied me to the parts counter, where it turned out they offer an automatic 15% off for existing customers (which I'd effectively just become).

Rather amusingly, my ears pricked up when, while we were waiting for the parts chap to fetch the mats, the handover guy (James) said "Actually, why don't I throw them in for you." Of course, what he meant was that he'd expertly install them...

By the way, James was a really great guy. Seems he'd been brought back into the dealership to specialise in customer handovers, leaving the salesmen to concentrate on selling. He couldn't have been more helpful and straightforward about everything. Nothing was rushed, he answered all the questions he could and said he'd get back to me on any he couldn't, and he generally just made the experience a very pleasant one, which made up for the frustrating weeks prior to delivery.

I genuinely think that the X1/9s were a patch above other Fiats in terms of build quality, as they were virtually hand-built by Bertone. Sadly, though, this didn't stop them from succumbing to tin worm and electrical gremlins.

I've had X1/9s since I was in my mid-20s, but unfortunately my current one had been off the road now for over 10 years and could do with a full restoration. Here it is in happier days:

Here's a photo of the charging port door misalignment. It's sitting a bit low on the right-hand side (as you look at it). Hoping it can be adjusted.

Excellent atire.

A shame regards the charge port door, though I'm hopeful it that can adjusted.

As for the Fiat, with hindsight I think that they were no worse than any other car of that era regarding rust or electrics.
My first car was a 1974 Fiat 127 with a 903cc engine I thrashed it every where I went with the result that within a year the big end bearings went and the engine seized.

My Honda e also has a rattle, seeming to come from the middle of the dashboard, behind the screens. It's a buzzy rattle when going over some (not all) small bumps, but it doesn't rattle over big bumps, strangely. On a recent trip out of town I was driving at 50 - 55mph when the rattle became a continous non-stop rattle that lasted for 5 minutes or more, and only stopped when I slowed down. That was becoming a bit annoying! However, I had a 33 miles drive yesterday and I didn't hear the rattle once. The only difference that I can think of is that the sun was out and it had shone on and heated up the dashboard before the start of my trip. So if the rattle comes back in cooler weather then I think I'll have to take it to the dealer to see if they can fix it.

Someone named Nigel Sturgeon has posted a video of his Honda e dashboard rattle (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4Qf9J6GxDs). It's a bit difficult to hear it, but it's yet another car with a dashboard rattle. So much for Honda making quality cars! The two Nissan LEAFs that I had been driving for the last 4 years never even once had a rattle. I had expected the Honda to be the same.

That shouldn’t make it past quality control.

Thanks for the photo. That's a lot of degrees off. When you said misalignment I expected something like a panel gap where one of the sides were a little closer to the frame than the other, but what you've posted is really obviously tilted.

How flexible are the port hinges (if that's the word, I'm not a native English speaker) where the port is attached to the frame? How much is it possible to push it on one side is my question I guess. I'm wondering if the hinge is weak, the port is attached unevenly, the plastic itself is flexible etc.
