New charge curve?

Has the charge curve changed recently? Because my most recent quick charge was horribly slow.

Normally, I don't use the (DC) fast charging option, but to be a little bit more prepared for longer trips, I decided to do tiny trial fast charge while getting a sandwich and a coffee. My car was at 68% and wanted to have a quick 10-minute charge to get it up to 80% before heading home.

I was aware of the charge curve going down at higher SoC's, but I wasn't expecting such an abysmal result as I did today. After plugging in, the car immediately said it would take no less than 33 minutes (!) to charge up to 80%. That would have made sense to me if the battery was at a 10-15% SoC, but not 68%!

I was expecting it to charge at around 20 or 30 kW. After 25 minutes I just left, seeing it was charging at only 10 kW. Is this abnormal, or is it just a temperature thing? (It was around 4 C).

The charging curve will change according to the battery temperature etc... Below are some graphics from the same day.

It was a rainy day with 7°c lower temp and 13° max temperature.

Did a total of 500kms..

Temperature is the biggest factor in my experience too.
Even at <10% SoC you can get as low as 10kW if it is cold enough. -10C really kills it.
In Norway i never even saw 50kW last summer doing 1000++km road trips.

OK, this is good to now when planning for longer trips. I was naive to think that the charge curves were accurate, and that charging from 10-80% would actually only take 30 minutes. It seems to consistently take twice as long.

Usually I use Maps and TomTom to look at nice and/or efficient routes. And I use ABRP to get a bit of sense of how long a trip will actually take (including the charging session), but with the charge curve being so ridiculously far off, ABRP was always way too optimistic.

For now I have kind of fixed this by changing the Settings > Battery > Charging Overhead to 30 minutes in ABRP.

It all depends on the battery temperature. To get maximum speeds needs to be between 24 to 35 degrees. To measure the battery temperature I use the app called Power cruise control for the Honda e.
