Can someone suggest a decent contact for Honda themselves (preferrably in the UK)? I have already tried emailing 'customer.service@honda-eu.com' but predictably received no response.

I think it's important to be able to have confirmation whether this fault affects only a subset of earlier vehicles and if so, which ones (as inferred by the Japanese recall doc) or if all owners can expect this at some point.

I ended up using the Custom Services contact form which I doubted would generate anything, but they did call me to discuss within 48 hours, which was a surprise. I did include my reg/VIN in the message.

I contacted Honda UK to see if they could provide information about which years were affected. Told to contact local dealer who told me to contact Honda UK. Sigh.

Does anyone know whether this issue would be covered by the extended guarantee? I seem to remember that door handles were excluded annoyingly but can't see how the brake servo could be.

The brake servo issue had a long thread on the Jazz forum, where several people had issues and charged up to 2 grand by dealers to replace, some got a part contribution from Honda UK, and there was a poor dealer experience or two, and a lot of detail on the Japan recall, and questions why we should be paying when it was looking like a genuine recall issue that is a manufacturer responsibility. The forum suddenly was down and has been now for a week. It says technical issue with hosting company. Is this a coincidence? or have some Honda lawyers got in touch?

Hmmm, very interesting. Wouldn't surprise me if there was a takedown notice due to perhaps copyright material hosted there like manuals or diagrams. Perhaps the forum was purchased anonymously to hush it up!

Curious, I had a quick search for how vehicle safety defects are reported to VOSA, and found some information here:

https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-recalls-and- ... ety-defect
What counts as a serious safety defect:
A serious safety defect is something about the way the vehicle is designed or made that’s likely to cause injury or death that happens suddenly and without warning.

What does not count as a serious safety defect
Things are not classed as a serious safety defect if:

they can be found during routine maintenance and servicing
you’re warned about them by warning lights, noticeable changes in handling and unusual noises
they’re caused by you misusing the vehicle, for example overloading your vehicle causing a tyre failure
The emboldened part is the most interesting to me. To date, we have not had anyone report that the braking system failed during actual driving. Only that they got in one morning, and the error was present. I suspect Honda are well aware of what criteria constitutes serious safety defect that can force VOSA to make them recall vehicles, and the reporting of the sensor failure is programmed accordingly. By that I mean it's not outside the realms of possibility that 1 sensor alone can be used for operation at a pinch to finish a journey. if 1 of the 2 fail during driving, for the sake of safety, don't throw a warning, but throw a warning the next time at startup, voila, now it's not a VOSA serious defect.

The car is so 'fragile' it seems like I'm just waiting for the next problem all the time...

Sounds very odd that the forum is down for so long.
I manage a website for a local charity and don't have a clue what I'm doing, but could easily get it back up and running in a couple of hours and definitely by the next day very easily even if it needed setting up a new hosting provider.
I know because I've previously ballsed it up once and got a backup re-installed in less than an hour on the same host.

BTW - We do this on a shoestring, so no paid services other than a basic hosting package at £6/month.

Jazz forum now back up with the brake thread 13 pages long. Looks like nothing has changed but I can't be sure about everything.
