When I got my car (first owner), I found this thing in the glove box:

I hadn't really thought about it since, but came across it yesterday and thought I'd ask; is this supposed to go in the car somewhere?

I recall seeing these before but cannot remember where & as it's wet & dark outside I'm not looking now, but think it's from underneath the car to plug a hole.

Yes, these go underneath the car, near the sill jacking points. I believe they are not fitted so the car can be affixed to the deck of the vessel for shipping.

Are they supposed to be in. or are they taken out by the dealer for water run out reasons? I seem to remember posts about the bottom of the doors which should have holes clear to stop water retention?

These are not fitted in the factory , because they know the car will be strapped to the deck of a cargo ship.

Once the dealer gets the car, they are supposed to fit them as part of the PDI.

Ideally you don't want holes in the bottom of the car, as water and crap will get in. Probably best to fit them after a spell of dry weather...

Thank you for the responses! Seems like I'll have to ask them to be fitted in the next service; no other opportunities with the car lifted in the near future. How many are there supposed to be?

There should be 4 (one inboard of each sill jacking point). I think I posted a picture or 2 on my thread, shame the forum search is so bad...

I managed to fit them myself without lifting the car. Simply lie on the floor, and use your phone to look and locate the holes. You can then push them in with your thumb but it was a bit of effort.

Good information, thanks! I checked my car, and they're all missing. Sigh.
