Failed brake servo/pedal simulator - a how-to DIY fix
To my understanding, just from reading the interpretation of the Japanese recall detail (via The Telegraph clip) the fault occurred during manufacture. The error allowed brake fluid to seep into the area where the metal sensors are and this caused them to corrode - preventing accurate feedback from the brake servo. Bear in mind the OP has a great deal more technical knowledge than me (frankly I’d struggle to change a battery). The brake servo on my car failed at 28k in Jan 24. I have no money to pay for the repair and am unable to access credit. I had no option but to try and sue the Honda garage that I purchased my car from (not fit for purpose etc). Meanwhile Honda UK had provided me with a hire car. After four months of getting nowhere with the legal process, Honda UK arranged for my local Honda servicing garage to replace the brake servo and paid the full cost of labour and parts. I guess that was a less costly option for Honda UK than continuing to pay for my car hire. I am very pleased and relieved to have my Jazz back.

my Honda E (registered in Germany in October 2020) broke down last week with this error.
You might be interested to know how Honda Germany handled this.
Even though I have a 5-year extended warranty that is covered by an insurance (through the dealer, not Honda), my repair shop submitted a goodwill request.
Honda Germany covers all costs completely. The spare part does deliver within 1.5 weeks.

Hi all,
In Feb 2024, I had the same brake servo failure on my 2020 Honda E. The replacement costs were coming in circa £2,700 with a 3 month lead-in time. The best Goodwill Offer my Honda garage could arrange was 40% discount on the part, but not the labour so the bill was still coming in around £2,100.
My car wasn’t long out of warranty, so we were really disappointed at this and took it up with Honda Customer Service. They were pretty painful to deal with (no-one calling me back or updating on my case) so after 2 months when my car was eventually fixed and waiting to be collected, we wrote direct to the Managing Director.
Initially we didn’t get a response to our email, so we posted a letter 1st class and got a call within 2 days. Straight away, they agreed to cover the cost of the part, but I stood my ground that I shouldn’t be expected to cover labour costs for what is clearly a manufacturing fault, so they later agreed to cover the cost of the labour aswell.
If the garage won’t cover the entirety of the costs, my advice would be to go straight to the Managing Director with a letter (both email and post) outlining your issues, referring the Japan recall and other affected Honda models Honda CR-Vs/Jazz etc. Hopefully they will come good fairly quickly.

My turn to face this issue after 2 years and 26k KM. Having imported the car from UK, I don't have the luxury of having any official support from Honda.
The company which imported and sold the car is trying to shy away from the responsibility by stating the Master Cylinder Pump and Slave Pump under Brake System will not be covered under warranty beyond 12 months or 10k KM.
I read from it's a 2-in-1 unit with the pump and servo together. Do we have separate components in our E that can be define as Master or Slave Brake pump?
I'm trying to find ways to get them take up some responsibility.
