When I installed a dashcam in my Kona I was pleasantly surprised to find that the internal trim around the top and sides of the windscreen has a flexible edge where it meets the screen, allowing the cable to be tucked behind without having to displace the trim; extracting the cable again is just as easy. Presumably the e doesn't share this feature?

Did you remove any cover to get to the ODBII port?

No, the fuse box next to it under steering wheel is also uncovered.

I didn't need to remove the a-pillar trim, I just carefully eased the top edge of it to get the power cable under it and then pulled off the door seal to reveal that gap you can see in the photos.
Once I'd decided on the camera location and built up the nerve to go ahead, it probably only took me 30 mins max to do the install.
I've spent a lot more time updating the settings on the dash cam than installing it.

I don't know what the Kona is like, however the e has a very hard a-pillar trim which is also very tight against the headlining. All it needs is very gentle easing with a trim tool (I covered the end of mine with insulation tape because it's been used for all sorts and is a bit mangled) to get the cable behind it, then once at the door edge with the door seal removed it's really easy to run down the side to the fuse box/OBDII port.

Thanks, I wanted to give others an idea of how to install a dash cam.
The top edge of the a-pillar trim is hard plastic and very tight against the headlining, so I was very careful, but once the cable is behind this, the rest is really easy.
A lot easier than on my last car a 2003 Mini Cooper S, where I had to rip the a-pillar trim off completely to get the cable down to fuse box. The difference being that my old car was just that, old, and I knew that I could easily buy used replacement trim parts for peanuts if it went Pete Tong.

It's a bit sad that Honda are unable to link the existing built in camera's to a hardrive or something similar. It seems nuts that we're installing additonal cameras! Why are they not taking the Tesla approach? Gah!

I was doing some research and most of these cameras have the same analogue video signal. You can buy splitters on eBay that let you record your car's reversing camera as well as displaying it on the screen.

Anyone got a service manual for the e? If the cables are accessible it might be possible to tap into all the cameras.

It's simply because the camera systems on board already are a hodgepodge from various companies, so until either Honda or a 3rd party develop a combined or open system then this is how it will be.
