Apologies if this has been asked before, but is anyone aware of someone having replaced/modified the battery in their Honda e, to be a more energy dense battery resulting in a greater capacity and in turn a greater range?
I guess this might be something we see more in the next couple of years as cars come out of their warranty.
Thank you in advance for any input on this topic!
Traction Battery Upgrade/Modification
I don't think it's something possible at the moment. Too many complications not only on a technical level (it's not just about mounting a battery under the floor, but also making it communicate correctly with the car's BMS for temperature management, charging curve, buffer management...), but also on a legal level. Who takes the risk of ensuring that everything works correctly? What happens if the battery catches fire, if it stops working, if the possible greater weight causes stability problems for the car that is approved with other characteristics? Honda certainly won't carry out battery upgrades in the future, nor will it authorize third-party workshops (they're interested in selling cars)ojeastwood wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 11:29 am Apologies if this has been asked before, but is anyone aware of someone having replaced/modified the battery in their Honda e, to be a more energy dense battery resulting in a greater capacity and in turn a greater range?

This seems very easy to do (many have done it do nissan leaf) probably with a translator box so you dont have to deal with hondas messy software.ojeastwood wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 11:29 am Apologies if this has been asked before, but is anyone aware of someone having replaced/modified the battery in their Honda e, to be a more energy dense battery resulting in a greater capacity and in turn a greater range?
