I think this issue might be worse than the brake servo issue, if it's near guaranteed to occur and the only fix is a replacement with the same defective part that costs so much. £800 for a door handle? Someone must be minting it. Honda should really be covering it.

Has anyone figured out a way to guard against this on here, where the part hasn't become problematic yet. Can you just spray a hefty amount of water repellent lubricant into this contraption?

My best option would seem to be to raise this with the Motor Ombudsman, unless anyone knows of a motor electrical company in the Buckinghamshire area that would take an interest in identifying a (possibly simple) solution.
In February this year, I received confirmation that the Motor Ombudsman will conduct further investigation.
Since then, I have not received any updates. They advise against contacting them for an update, as this could result in additional delays.
Regarding the expected timeframe, here is an excerpt from their information: "It typically takes us at least six months to complete our investigations. Please keep in mind that our service is free of charge. While we strive to provide timely responses, our resources are limited due to high demand."
Some may infer that the high demand indicates significant issues with car manufacturers' ability to resolve matters fairly.

How you choose to proceed with this matter is ultimately up to you.

Thanks - that's very interesting - what was the essence of your Ombudsman complaint? Have you been refused a door handle change like me under the extended warranty?

As posted elsewhere Honda have rejected my complaint ''due to the presence of water in the handle" which completely ignores the issue of how the water got there". Given that the extended warranty explicity excludes the door handles my argument would seem to be that it has a design fault.

I'm not willing to provide much information because the case is still open I might consider court claim depending on the outcome.

The main problem is how long it took the dealership to sort out the issue from when I first reported it to when they finally replaced the door handle. Also, there's the frustrating issue of the door handle not being covered by warranty.
