Well I’m at the dealership now and 3 hours in and the update keeps crashing.
I will let you know when it’s been installed, hopefully today.
Anyone else had there’s done?
Recall software update
While I was chasing up my Digital Service Record with Honda and my dealer it came to light I needed to bring it in for a Software Recall because of the issues with getting the red light of doom, I’m sure it was also mentioned in a post on here at the same time I had my notification.
The actual Recall update uploaded ok but he had an issue with another software update that kept crashing, there were another two that needed to be done, one to do with cameras and the other I think for the 12v battery charging/monitoring system.
I did ask why these updates aren’t included with the digital service record and was told Honda only update the records for servicing.
I also thought I was going to get a print off of these updates but all I got was this, I’m writing it out word for word rather than take a photo.
So here goes, on page one.
Electric Powertrain
Confirmed DTCs
P1D4E Quick Charging System Error.
Pending DTCs
P1D4E Quick Charging Systems Error
Page 2
Symptom: In some cases vehicle might stop changing shortly after connected to DC charger or before the charging session is about to finish.
DTC P1D4A & P1D4E might occur and vehicle will no longer initiate DC (Quick) charging. Warning message “Quick Plug-in Charging System Problem, Standard Charging is Available “ and the charging status indicator lamp on the charge port flashes red.
Countermeasures: Software update for Battery Charge Control Module , which increases the DTC detection time threshold, to improve compatibility with the DC chargers. This software update will address concerns for both the DTC’s P1D4A and P1D4E.
Bulletin number: SY-10-008-00.
One thing the technician said was he had to remove my BM2 monitor because it was stopping the battery from reaching 16v+ for the update to work, don’t know if that was for all the updates, he also said to leave it disconnected so the battery system can maintain the correct voltage of the 12v battery, going to need some of your expert insight as to whether this info is correct.

Honda E advance [Modern Steel Metallic] [DELIVERED JULY 2020] - 95 000Kms +
It did seem high but then I’m not a Honda technician.
I did ask him about the similar issue with the E:Ny1 and at first he dismissed my suggestion they could be related but then on reflection he said this Recall update software could be used on it as well.

Just remembered, another update was for the water pump, he said there were four updates pending so did them while the car was there.

Having an hour or so to spare and a need to actually use some en route chargers over the summer, I got the patch put onto my 22-plate Advance this morning and then went to the nearest "Open" Tesla charger to try it. I said to the dealer that I'd be back if there was trouble.
It worked, perfectly: plug in, start it on the app, have an agreeable Cinnamon Pretzel and a Flat White while having a Teams call with some students, back to 95% charged car. The Honda app sent me a "your car has nearly finished charging" notification, which it doesn't do at home; that was nice. Even via the app as a "foreigner", the Tesla charging experience was far less hassle than anything else I've tried (I'd taken heed of the warnings and never before tried a Tesla charger).
It managed 40kW for a minute or so but rapidly dropped to about 30kW. As I was starting at 50%-ish, past about 85% it dropped yet further.
14kWh = 50.4MJ, 33 mins = 1980s, so the average charging rate was 25.5kW. Which isn't great, but isn't terrible.

Booked in Thursday for update , I hope they open up my local supercharger to non Teslas soon!
In Spain Honda is already applying the update, the national traffic agency (DGT) has also notified all owners about the free process at the dealership.
It may be related to the checks and response time (timeout) between the car control unit and the charger during the charging check process?
And indeed there were 2 more, one of them from the water pump. After the update it seems that the autonomy has improved

I thought all Tesla Superchargers were now open for non Tesla vehicles, it started off with around six with the nearest to me in Cardiff, I’ve used their Bristol Cribbs chargers for a very brief test charge, I’m not sure if all of their stations operate the same pricing structure but they have 4 rates ranging from £0.30, £0.39, £0.45 and £0.57 depending of time of use.
