TRONITY App

Hello,

I’ve just discovered this app which can be linked to MyHonda+ and control the car as well as being able to extract car battery information to be used with ABRP.

Has anyone used this before? I can’t find any mention online or YouTube but it does seem like it’s only recently out of Beta.

... or via web browser.
The only thing that bothers me is the fact that you have to enter your password for the Honda+ app. It makes sense to me - but you hand over access to the data to this company...

Looks like free two weeks, then a monthly subscription charge.
Whilst the data might be interesting for a while, I think it will be a bit like my smart electric meter or my solar PV meter - track for a few months. Then give up 😊

On the wider subject of Honda e efficiency, I think I’m at the “meh” stage. On a mile to mile comparison, it is FAR cheaper than my previous ICE car. Whether charging via free PV or overnight by cheap octopus Go tariff. So whether I get 2 miles per kWh or 5 (like Advanced2020) I don’t think I worry too much. “Drive it like you stole it”. Ok maybe not, but have fun in the e

I'm going to look into this in more detail after I get home from work, however I'm not too hopeful that us Honda e owners will get any useful data, considering that there's no Honda API, and this is borne out by the fact that the Tronity website shows no API status for the Honda (https://tronity.statuspal.io/).

Here is the list of the monitored API's:
Tesla
BMW
Jaguar
Audi
Skoda
VW
Seat
Nissan
Hyundai
Kia
Renault
Peugeot
Opel

I’ve spent a bit of time setting this up today and it’s good so far. The link with ABRP is great and gives you real time battery predictions for when you arrive at your destination.

The app has a nice interface and records charging history. The only downside is the charging percentage does not update as fast as the Honda app.

You can see the car location but you can’t lock/unlock or set climate with the TRONITY app but could be coming in the future.

What's your experience of the Tronity app update speed in comparison to the MyHonda+ app, is it same at approximately 1min or apparently instantaneous?

This must be screen scraping the MyHonda+ app seeing as there's no API, my worry is that this Tronity app will be regularly broken at each MyHonda+ app update.

Considering that this is a beta app I would have expected it to be FOC until officially released.

EDIT:
I just saw that you said:
The only downside is the charging percentage does not update as fast as the Honda app.
therefore this confirms my suspicion of it screen scraping, with the result that it'll be even slower to update than the official MyHonda+ app :(

The UI provided by Tronity looks much nicer.
However: Screen scraping? That would be lousy, of course...
